Colorado Trail

Start on the Junction Creek side. There is about 2 miles of singletrack following the creek once you cross the bridge you start to climb. After 1.5 miles you will reach Gudy's Rest which sits at the top. If you don't want to go down the way you came, go 1/4 of a mile and turn left on the Hoffhein's Connection. A fast 2 mile ride down and you arrive at the first right and you hit Dry Fork road. Then all lefts until you get back to Durango.
Summary: Overall the trail was very enjoyable. The best part of the trail was the climb then the desent from Gudy's rest. The trail was in perfect condition and the bike just railed! I say if you get the chance get out and ride this trail.
Recommended Route: 25th street to 1st parking lot on the left after the street turns to dirt. This is the Colorado Trail trailhead, ride up Colorado, cross bridge (junction creek) up to Gudy's rest. Keep going up Colorado trail until you come to Dry Fork and go left. When you arrive at Hoffein's turn left and climb back to Colorado trail go right and this will tabke you back.

Summary: Hello Kids! I hope you all are being good this year. Santa is having fun during the off season, I am having a lot of fun on my summer sled to ride on all the trails during the summer. It has four wheels with shocks on them. My reindeer are staying in shape for next winter. Boy, I had a lot of fun riding on this trail and it was very technical. I did a lot of jumps and Vixon got scratched by one of the tree branches on the trail. He is O.k. right now. I thought the ride was great!
Other recommended trails in the same area: Whistler, Canada. Switzerland, Norway, Australia, Phillipines, Mount Snow California, and Kenya. The Trails there are great!

Summary: Fun single track, the whole way. I called 2 shops and asked "if you could only ride 1 trail...". They both suggested this trail. Not the most technical ride but it's a great all around cross-country ride.
Recommended Route: The route we took: 25th street (Junction Creek) to Colorado Trail trailhead, ride up Colorado, cross bridge (junction creek) up to Gudy's rest. Left on Hoffein's down to Dry Fork loop, go right. Up Dry Fork loop back to Colorado intersection. Right on Colorado Trail all the way back down to Colorado Trail trailhead @ Junction Creek
Other recommended trails in the same area: only on i did in durango area, however i hear horse gulch is top notch.

Ridden Trail: Once a week
Reviewed by: Little b

Summary: Sorry I have nothing to rip on anyone for, maybe this is not the format to speak of political and regional differences. I'll talk abouth the ride, ciz I know more about it than anything else. The colorado trail stretches all the way to Denver, so the routes described here are day rides that start and end in town. Beginning at junction you continue through a canyon and follow the creek and try to concentrate on your riding instead of the views. Some sections are technical, but not all, so keep going. Gradually climbing, you will come to a bridge crossing Junction creek. Cross and begin the serious part of our journey. Seven or so switch backs should take about less than a half an hour- hour depending, and once you get to Gudy's rest you be thankful you did it, who cares what state what president was from. It is common for people to turn it around and fly back the way they came, and with good reason, because it is incredible. However, if you wish to continue then do so. You can roll through forrest and reach the Dry fork loop, which will loop you through heaven-sent single track with lots of rock strewn sections, or you may choose to take the left turns that are marked with clear signs that lead you to the Hoffhiens (not herbel) connection. This will lead you to a dirt forrest road called lightner creek, and you can cruze back to town. This ride door to door from town is about 18 miles or so, if you take the connection, and is sweet which ever which ever way you do it, regardless of political affiliation. If you are thirsty for more of Colorado's finest, then continue up Dry Fork, it is a 9 mile loop in AWESOME forrest and you'll know you are way out there. These trails are some of the best in the area, and you never need a car, just ride from town, trust me, it is worth it. After you are done take a "glory ride" through downtown cuz thats whwre you'll end up. Cuties everywhere, and lots of benches to sit on and reflect a good ride. Go eat, drink and be merry
Recommended Route: Start at the end of Junction (25th st) or at the Dry Fork Trail at litghtner creek ( out on 160 west, take a left on Lightner creek road). Both directions are wonderful
Other recommended trails in the same area: all of them. Depending on you riding level, there is something for everyone. Test tracks, Hermosa, anything north, Log chutes, Animas, the Gulch...do em' all
