Alex (post below), what is your freaking problem??? QUOTE: (i.e. make the body armor freaks put a foot down.) It's people like you who make trail conflicts a problem. People like you don't let horses by and force people off the trail just so you can keep your heart rate 'optimal'. You give mountain bikers a bad name. Do you think behaving this way will make the shuttlers more inclined to stop and let you continue climbing? I agree with you on the yield to climbing issue, but geez, this is no way to fix the problem. Furthermore, assuming that every armor-clad DHer is a "freak" or has "low brain power" is about the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. I climb my 40-lb. bike to the top, and next time I'm coming down after working my butt off to get there, I'm going to run your skinny tires right off the trail.

Summary:
The first 500 yards are loose gravel, after the water station is where it starts to get fun.Head up the hill past all three wooden bridges, after the 3rd,jump the big ass water pipe and keep going. At about 3/4 mile it opens up with three trails possible, GO STRAIGHT.The old Alta Trading post is another 1/2 mile through some great technical areas and ends at an old crumbling stone building on the opposite side of the river.Watch out for the hikers, and the person going up hill does have the right of way.I ride this at lease twice a week and it is stll my favorite, short ride.

Recommended Route:
Unpack at the Temple Quary Trail head,or below the little cottonwood sign. Follow the trail, beside the paved hiking trail,go all the way to the old Alta Trading post.Great burn for a 1 hour ride.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Yellow Canyon, Wasatch Crest, Bobsled, and if you have any Kahunas try Gooseberry.

Summary:
Everthing that has been said about this trail is true.
Just one word of advice, as of this posting, (06/05/2001) they are installing a water main parallel to the trail. There are quite a few construction vehicles around so be careful. Also, the middle part of the trail is quite a bit looser than it used to be. It just makes the legs work a bit harder. The construction work is supsosed to be over soon, so let hope that improves the condtions on the trail. With all of that, the trail is still in pretty good most places.

Recommended Route:
Up and Down

Summary:
Watch out for body armor shuttlers with low brain power. Trail courtsey is becoming a big issue, I think the uphill rider still has the right of way. Don't be affraid to say hi to each other or hold your ground when climbing(i.e. make the body armor freaks put a foot down.)

Recommended Route:
Great quick ride. Stay on the main trail. Get off and walk if you encounter a patch of snow or mud.
