out and back cruiser. Much better than I had thought it would be. Pretty popular with hikers and families, so watch your speed-- I was almost run into by bikers going WAAAAY too fast, one of whom had to crash to avoid me....
The trail starts off with a short, steep climb, then continues uphill for about 6 miles. The grade isn't too bad if you're in ok shape, and there are plenty of spots to stop for a view and a breather... The trail has some nice recovery sections, then some steeper stuff, more recovery, and so on. When you are going up you will see a huge white rock in the canyon, it is about the halfway point. There is a spur to a bench near this big rock, it's an obvious fork. TAKE THIS REST-- it's a great view, and the trail gets steeper and rockier after that. When you're rested up a bit, take the trail through all the smooth parts, the bridges, the nice, banked switchbacks, the rooty, rocky uphill, and woodsy turns. There were some sections that reminded me of western NY trails-- kind of shady, open woods... You'll reach a rocky section with a bridge in it, this part is tough if you're trying to go too slow.. Past this part a bit, maybe 1/2mi or so, you'll reach a big clearing... You've made it. There are a few trails leading off through the woods, but I didnt' take them.... Turn around, head back down, the ride down is really fun. Be careful around blind turns and watch your speed due to numerous hikers. It would be a real shame to lose this trail to irresponsibilty. Enjoy
exit 318 on I-15. Head towards the mountains, the road will turn north. Take a right on 1800 south, head all the way up to the 1st parking area in Mueller Park. There will be a wooden bridge to your right, about 20feet back. Trail starts over the bridge and to the left.
Summary: Sweet, smooth singletrack. Climbing accessable to non-hammerheads. Easily accessed from the Ogden valley or North Salt Lake. Beautiful foliage. Banked turns on the downhill run. This would be the ultimate after work ride if only the rest of the world didn't think so as well. Better to come here during business hours if you want to be able to crank up the speed.

Recommended Route: Go up the north canyon. It is only 3.5 miles instead of 6.5. Then you can just ride down muller park trail.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Bonniville shoreline trail

Summary: This is a great trail. It's not that bad of a climb for those who don't like to climb. I haven't done the whole thing but I have gone to Elephant Rock like 5 times. I love it every time. The dh isn't so technical, but it is very fast and flowy. Watch out for hikers and othe bikers though. I had to learn that the hard way. I would recommend going during the week early in the morning. That's when hardly anybody is on it. It's almost impossible to ride the trail without seeing other people on it.
Recommended Route: Mueller Park, park in first parking lot. Trail is on the bridge
